Those whom an excess<br \/>\nof prosperity has rendered sluggish may justly be called<br \/>\nunfortunate.<\/p>\n<p>All excesses are injurious, but immoderate prosperity is<br \/>\nthe most dangerous of all.<\/p>\n<p>By suffering misfortune the mind grows able to belittle suffering.<\/p>\n<p>Your good fortune is not to need good fortune.<\/p>\n<p>The life we receive is not short but we make it so.<\/p>\n<p>Procrastination is the greatest waste of time.<\/p>\n<p>Expectancy is the greatest impediment to living: in<br \/>\nanticipation of tomorrow it loses today.<\/p>\n<p>The present is fleeting. . . it ceases to be before it has become.<\/p>\n<p>The only people really at leisure are those who take<br \/>\ntime for philosophy. They alone really live.<\/p>\n<p>All virtues are fragile in the beginning and acquire<br \/>\ntoughness and stability in time.<\/p>\n<p>Less labor is needed when your concern is for the present.<\/p>\n<p>For however unadvertised virtue may be, it is never wholly<br \/>\nunknown but gives signs of its presence, and the worthy will<br \/>\ntrack it down.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing can equal the pleasure of faithful and congenial friendship.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to withdraw into one&#8217;s self.<\/p>\n<p>What is the happy life?
