{"id":466,"date":"2017-06-28T10:33:30","date_gmt":"2017-06-28T18:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bracketthis.com\/blog\/?p=466"},"modified":"2024-05-09T19:52:40","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T03:52:40","slug":"chasing-fog-in-the-san-francisco-bay-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bracketthis.com\/blog\/2017\/06\/28\/chasing-fog-in-the-san-francisco-bay-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Chasing Fog in the San Francisco Bay Area"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Enough folks have asked me how I chase fog shots that I&#8217;ve added useful tools \/ links I use to chase fog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Is the government saying there will be morning fog? <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/MapClick.php?zoneid=CAZ006\">Check here first<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationweather.gov\/data\/metar\/?id=KSFO&amp;hours=24&amp;decoded=yes\">SFO Aviation data<\/a>: If it&#8217;s good enough for our planes, then it&#8217;s good enough for you. Look for &#8220;Ceiling&#8221; in the forecast. If it&#8217;s 800 feet or below, then there&#8217;s a good chance of low fog. There might not be fog, but if there is it will be low. I got a shot with a 900 feet ceiling but that more had to do with extreme luck. I just wish I could zoom into the maps. It shows you fog cover for different blocks of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4) Also, it helps to consult <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheltons.net\/wx\/webcam800.jpg\">a webcam<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5) There&#8217;s also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.escaype.com\/home\">the Escaype App<\/a> but you gotta pay for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope this helps. Chasing fog is like hitting in baseball. If you get it 3 out of 10 times, then you&#8217;re a success.
